Mr. Leslie G. Parker, age 85 of Lovelady, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007 in the Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Parker was born May 30, 1922 in Weldon and was a lifetime resident of the Lovelady area. Mr. Parker was a retired rancher and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy as an armed guard on a merchant ship. Mr. Parker was also a lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV and a member of the Weldon Baptist Church since 1956.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Jordan Parker, of Lovelady; daughters Sharon Freeman, of Lovelady and Paula Waller and husband Larry, of Ben Arnold; grandchildren Lacy Freeman and wife Andrea, of Buffalo, Doug Freeman and wife Tammy, of Lovelady, Kelly Waller, of Mexia and Wendy Stone and husband Layne, of Temple; 10 great-grandchildren Brandi, Tiffany, Jacob, Leslie, Logan, Natalie, Lily, Lane, Addison and Sadie; sister Pauline Evans, of Lovelady; sisters-in-law Shirley Parker, of Lovelady, Bobbie Penny, of Conroe; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives
Preceded in death by his parents Lee and Nona Parker; brothers Clarence, Ovie Lee, Jack, Hunter, Dick and George; sister Inez Parker; and son-in-law Bill Freeman.
Funeral Services for Mr. Leslie G. Parker were held Tuesday, December 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the Weldon Baptist Church with the Rev. C. F. Hazelwood and the Rev. Reggie Gregory officiating. Military graveside will follow in the Weldon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Weldon Cemetery Assn. Rt. 2 Box 211D, Lovelady, TX. 75851, Weldon Baptist Church or Charity of Choice.
