Martha was born on February 11, 1920 to Chester and Minnie Martin Pulley, the youngest of six children. She spent her childhood in Mapleton. She married John Elmer Smith, Jr. on May 28, 1936. In December 1945, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. John and Martha were married 67 years; he passed away June 15, 2003.
Martha was always a hard worker and worked most of her life. Some of her jobs included Del Monte Cannery, Jack's CafŽ, Forsey's Variety Store, Spanish Fork Bishop's Warehouse, cooking for the Senior Citizens, making homemade soups for Duke's Lanes, and most recently working at Kentucky Fried Chicken where she worked until 2001. Martha always loved to cook and shared her wonderful cooking talent with her family, friends, and neighbors, and took meals to people whenever needed. She made the best pies, and was often known as the "pie lady". Martha was also a very talented quilter and spent many hours making beautiful homemade quilts.
Martha is survived by her three children; one son and two daughters; Elmer J. Smith, Mary Leone (Ronald) Johnson, and Danna (Clyde) Warner, all of Spanish Fork; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 29 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Bright from Boulder City, Nevada; and two sisters-in-law, Leone Tolbert; and Lila Smith.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Wilford, Ray, Alfred, and Earl Pulley; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Smith; one grandson, Coy Taufer; and one great-great grandson, Jaxon Taufer.
Funeral Services will be Friday, February 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends and Family may call at the Mortuary on Thursday evening, February 7, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to the Services.
Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
