Ernest L. Brown, 61, fire truck driver here for the past 10 years, died Tuesday evening after becoming ill at the scene of a blaze. He had driven the truck to the fire at the R.E. Shockley property on Aukerman Street at about 4 p.m. He became ill there and had another fireman, Floyd Ball, drive the truck back to the fire house. Taken to the physician by Bob Wigger, he collapsed of a heart attack and died minutes later.

Brown resided at 620 North Walnut Street. Surviving are the widow; Ruth, a daughter, Mrs. Grace Bechtol, wife of councilman and grocery owner Carl Bechtol; a son, Willard; two half-sisters, Mrs. Irene Jeanes of Richmond, Ind., and Mrs. Mary Pickering of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Brown will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Girton funeral home with Rev. C.J. Bradbury officiating. Burial will be in Mound Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the residence on north Walnut street Wednesday evening until time for services.
