Mr. Bristow retired as Eaton mayor the first of January this year after serving in that position since 1937, being appointed at that time to fill the vacancy created by the death of R.M. Conover. He was elected mayor in 1938 and again in 1940, but was defeated in the Republican primary in 1941. At the time of his death he was serving as executive chairman of Eaton's Council of Defense.
A native of Eaton, he formerly owned and operated grocery and wall-paper stores there, but retired from business about five years ago.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mabel Bristow; one son, James, Dayton; and one daughter, Mrs. Willard Kisling, Englewood.
