Robert "Bob" Aamodt Ribble, 93 years old, of Cypress, died Monday January 2 at West Anaheim Extended Care. He was born in St. Paul, MN on Sept. 6, 1923 to Harry Ribble and Dorothy Aamodt. While serving in the Army, Bob married Darleen Ostedgaard of Ringsted, Iowa on March 17, 1944, whom he had met while working at Butler Bros in Minneapolis, MN. While in the Army, Bob served as an Armored Tank gunner seeing action in Germany, Austria and France, and was awarded a Bronze Star. After the army Bob became a printer, retiring from the Long Beach Press Telegram in 1987.
Bob was father to Nancy (Randy) Olsen, Robert (Karen) and Kathleen (Tom) Cryer. He was grandfather to David (Nicole), Kim (Nathan) Chandler, Candace (Jon) Murphy, Tommy and Alex. He was also a great-grandfather to Mackenzie, Patrick, Corinne, Haley, Abigail and Emily.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Darleen in 1993, just before their 50th wedding anniversary, and by his daughter Nancy in 2000.
Even at 92, Bob was still an avid golfer, hoping to add to his total of 7 hole-in-ones, and still bowling. He also enjoyed being a Bingo Caller for the Cypress Senior Club and being an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Cypress.
