Loletta Leeder, age 87 of Melrose, NM passed away in Mesquite, TX on August 24, 2022. Loletta was born in Hope, Oklahoma on April 3, 1935, to Beatrice and Earnest Leeder. Loletta is preceded in death by her mother and father, Beatrice and Earnest Leeder; brothers, Johnie Leeder and wife Thelma, Virgil Leeder and wife Wilma, James Leeder and wife Jodi; and Joe Eldon Leeder. Loletta is survived by sisters, Jetta Lee Lowe, Mary Watterson and Gaynell Shreve and husband Rick. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Nephew, Trevor Leeder held a very special place in Loletta's heart as she had the privilege of helping to raise him. Trevor and Loletta shared a memorable relationship and were often seen together at Leeder's Café and church.
Loletta worked/owned Leeder's Café in Melrose, NM and was a proud member of the Church of God of Prophecy where she ministered and led song services for years.
Leeder's Café was well-known truck stop for over fifty years in Melrose, NM and was famous for her hamburgers, enchiladas, and luncheon specials. Folks from all walks of life came to visit and enjoy the delicious food. Truck drivers, Governors, Senators and even famous country singer Garth Brooks enjoyed Loletta's hospitality and meals.
If you had the privilege of knowing Loletta for more than thirty minutes, you'd discover her infamous "Bulldog Mumps". She loved to entertain and fed everyone. Loletta was a great woman of God and faithfully prayed and read the bible. She was known for witnessing to all around and many turned to her in times of need, for her prayers.
When visiting with Loletta about leaving this world, she wanted a celebration of life. She said, "Death has been swallowed up in victory." 1 Cor. 15:54. Come celebrate her life and home going with us. Loletta would invite you all to meet her at Heaven's pearly gates; she plans to see you there.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Melrose cemetery on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
