Mr. Jimmie R. Thrift, 68, died Monday afternoon (August 25, 2003) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was the son of the late H. W. Thrift and Lucille Rogers Thrift.

He was retired from the transportation dept. with CSX Railroad and served in the National Guard. His devotion to outdoor conservation proved his love for nature and this earth.

The survivors include his wife, Virginia Corbett Thrift of Waycross; a daughter, Donna Raye Dowling of Waycross; a son, Jimmy R. Thrift, Jr. (wife Brenda Kaye) of Waycross; four grandchildren, Shelby M. Dowling, Sara C. Dowling, Christian D. Miles, William Hardy Thrift; two step grandchildren, Kimberly E. Kinlaw, Emily M. Dowling; one aunt, Estelle Thrift of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Victory Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 7 until 9 o'clock.
