From a large family, he was one of 11 children, born to James M Anderson and first wife Eady Roundtree Anderson. His father and brother were also Confederate soldiers. James in Com C, 2nd Georgia Infantry, survived the War, and brother Manning, Com F, 48th Georgia Infantry, died in Henrico, Virginia of disease 28 Dec 1862. His father, James Anderson, claimed the pay due him.
