Aaron George Quattlebaum
September 4, 1963 ~ June 29, 2021

Aaron arrived as a delightful addition to the family on September 4,1963! The youngest of four, Aaron's blond hair, beautiful blue eyes and cherubic face made for the perfect baby brother.

Aaron's parents Eva Carolyn and George Kelly raised him at home, which was unusual at that time for a child with Down's Syndrome.Aaron's birth led to his mom, degreed in elementary ed, to seek certification in special education. It also prompted Carolyn and Kelly to join other parents to create Loving Care Opportunity Center in 1966, which Aaron attended until he started in public school.

Over the years, Aaron grew to be the star of the family! On multiple occasions Aaron was greeted by name leaving his family wondering who the greeter was and how they knew Aaron?

Aaron was active in Boy Scouts, Special Olympics and loved to dance! Many summers were spent at Camp Summit, where Aaron enjoyed swimming, caught his first fish, and earned the title of "Best Camper."

After aging out of public school Aaron moved to Lancaster Residential Center (LRC).He was a popular resident at LRC, but perhaps not as much so with his longtime roommate Paul. The two shared a relationship much like The Odd Couplewith Aaron playing Oscar to Paul's Felix. When picking Aaron up from LRC, Paul frequently insisted on escorting Aaron's sisters to their room, complaining about Aaron's lack of housekeeping skills.

While at LRC Aaron was selected by Kathy as her beau. Although she was significantly more verbal than he, Kathy found Aaron's good looks and easygoing demeanor to make for a relationship lasting longer than many marriages.

It was at LRC that Aaron first met Wendy, who was initially his case manager. Wendy fondly recalls bribing him with "shoom-pas", Aaron's word for a Coca-Cola.Despite his ornery nature, Aaron became one of Wendy's favorites.

In 2012, through Aim High HCS, Wendy purchased a home in Arlington and invited Aaron to move in. There, Judy became and remained his case manager, taking great care of Aaron.
Aaron was joined by fellow residents Jamie and Rudy. Life was full for these three. Weekdays were spent at day hab, and evenings enjoying dinner and TV. Weekends for the guys included overnights with family, picnics at Joe Pool lake, dinner out or simply a drive in their bright red Kia Soul. These three friends enjoyed an enviable comradery.

Preceded in death by parents, Carolyn and Kelly, brother-in-law David and nephew Christopher.

Aaron's memorial arrangements will honor how he lived,
Large, Loud, and Loving!
The family will host a party for his Aim High family and friends
in the coming weeks.
A graveside service will be held in early September at Restland.
