Mrs. Ada B. (Kimmey) Goodrum, age 96, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in Montgomery County. Mrs. Goodrum was born in Leon County February 21, 1911 to John Angus and Bertie Della (Bledsoe) Kimmey. Mrs. Goodrum was a long-time resident of Weldon and Trinity, but also resided in Huntsville, Houston-Heights, Bryan, Conroe and Alexandria, Louisiana.
Mrs. Goodrum married William Glover Goodrum in 1936 in Grimes County. Though she spent most of her life as a homemaker, she also worked as a prison guard at Goree Women's Prison.
Mrs. Goodrum and her husband owned the corner store by Eastham Prison in the early 70s. Later in life, she worked many years as a waittress at Westwood Shores Country Club in Trinity. Mrs. Goodrum thoroughly enjoyed life, had endless love for her family, and loved family celebrations. Mrs. Goodrum was a true matriarch of the family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her sister Bobby Sowell and husband Lon Ed, of Huntsville; son Bill Goodrum and wife Marcy, of Weldon; grandchildren Jackie Moszkowicz and husband Charles, of Houston, Suzie Yates and husband David, of Willis, Tammera Roberts, of Montgomery, Kim Tomlinson, of Groveton, Tiffany Goodrum, of Houston, Michael Goodrum, of Huntsville, Dan and Bill Goodrum, of The Woodlands; great-grandchildren Douglas Brumble, Chaz Moszkowicz, Justin Roberts, Christopher Tomlinson, Kendall Henderson, Jordan Roberts and Katie Yates; great-great-granddaughter Angelina Roberts; daughters-in-law Bonnie Goodrum, Jo Beth Goodrum and Susie Cusworth; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents John and Bertie Kimmey; husband Glover Goodrum; brother Glenn Kimmey and toddler brother Herbert; sister Margaret Rodgers and infant sister Ruby; sons Van Goodrum, Johnny Goodrum and Greg Goodrum; daughter-in-law Barbara Goodrum; grandchildren Melinda Goodrum, Donna Goodrum and Randy Goodrum.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Ada B. (Kimmey) Goodrum were held Friday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Waller-Thornton Funeral Home in Trinity. Interment followed in the Weldon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her beloved grand and great-grandsons Michael Goodrum, Dan Goodrum, Bill Goodrum, Douglas Brumble, Justin Roberts, Christopher Tomlinson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Chaz Moszkowicz and Mike Manners.
