Benny D. Dowdy, born to Joseph Edward and Dulis Hall Dowdy January 11, 1935, completed his earthly journey on September 29, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, granddad, and great-granddad.

Prior to working for over thirty years at Mrs. Baird's bakeries in Fort Worth, he had many jobs, starting with shining shoes at the age of eight at the barbershop. After high school, he joined the army and drove a supply truck for the last months of the Korean Conflict. While he was at Mrs. Baird's, he completed the Dale Carnegie Course for Public Speaking and Human Relations. Ben completed flight school and was a captain in the Civil Air Patrol.

His favorite thing in the world was being married to Malinda for sixty-four years. Together they raised three children and assisted in raising three grandsons. He loved drag racing, riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar, and he took special joy in writing checks for church offering.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister. He leaves behind wife Malinda Goyne Dowdy, sons Derek and Steven Dowdy, daughter Holly Bozeman, grandson Jonathan Bozeman and wife Savone and their daughters Alexandria and Moira, grandson Christopher Bozeman and wife Alicia, and grandson Asher Tyler.

We greatly appreciate the loving care Ben and our family received through Solaris Hospice. Special thanks to Lacie Born and Linda Rodriguez.

Visitation 6-8pm, Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Harvest Hills Funeral Home. Services 2:00pm, Monday, October 3, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, Hico, Texas with burial to follow at Fairy Cemetery, Fairy Texas.
