She was born March 31, 1916, in Gosport, to Morton and Clara Gayle (Anderson) Stierwalt. She was a self-employed seamstress, raised foster children, enjoyed cooking and played the piano and sang at many different churches.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by a daughter, Judy Hedden of Spencer; two sons William Laymon of Watauga, TX, and Larry Laymon of Terre Haute; a sister, Mary Irons of Alpine, TX; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Freeman, in 1983; a daughter, Barbara Cross; two sisters, Lucy Jones and Dortha Woods; and a son-in-law, Lennie Hedden.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2008, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Diane Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
