Lowell Rushton Masten, age 83, of Upper Arlington, died Monday, May 29, 2000 [9:15 pm] at the Forum at Knightsbridge. Beloved husband of the late Mid Masten. Loving father of Craig Masten and Carol Masten Milne-Smith and father-in-law of her husband, Ian. Proud grandfather of Matthew and Amy Milne-Smith. His work (retired C.E.O. of Duracell Batteries Europe), his service to others (over 20 years with the Columbus Chapter of SCORE and as a member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, as well as a member of Bellville Lodge 27 F&AM) and his life long commitment to family were the hallmarks of his life. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2000 at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio. A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2000 at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio. Those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, Franklin County Unit, 900 Michigan Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. 43215 or to their favorite charity in his memory.
Lowell Masten was the son of Etta (Rushton) and Earl H. Masten. For years Mom put flowers on his parent's grave and he always sent Mom a check and a Christmas card. He also wrote other times of the year, but was not as consistant about that as the Christmas card. When no card came in 2000, we wondered if he had passed away. With the help of other Find A Grave members, I was finally able to verify that he had.
Mom kept flowers on the grave up until she passed away in 2006. I'll keep up the tradition as long as I can. She always told me that Lowell was a wonderful man. I can tell from his obituary that she was right.
