Mary was born October 2nd 1944 in Brazil IN Where she was raised by her parents John and Virginia Courtney, along with her sister Alice Ann. All pre deceased her.

After graduation from Brazil High School she attended Indiana State University graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in nutrition and dietetics.

After moving to Indianapolis she met and married her beloved husband Ted Sauvain and became imbedded and loved in the Sauvain family. Margaret Sauvain becoming her second mother.

She spent her entire career in the health field.

After her husband's early death she eventually retired. A few years ago she moved to a villa at Traditions at North Willow where she quickly became a staple in the community. She loved baking and became the self appointed maker of cupcakes and cookies for the residents birthdays, holidays and special events.

Mary was a regular fixture in the card groups at Traditions and with her dear friends and of course supplied the treats.

And she loved spending time in Florida with friends.

Friends were vital to her throughout her life and she made a 'family' of friends she loved and was loved in return.

A very sincere mention of Genia Mayhew and her two friends of 50+ years Gayle Kegg and Brenda McAllister who, along with Skip Sauvain, were with her to the very end.

Mary is survived by Skip Sauvain and Tom Sauvain.

Another special thank you to the staff at Traditions of North Willow for helping her last years to be active and happy.

We are extremely grateful for the staff at Ascension St. Vincent Emergency Department for their professional care and devoted compassionate attention given to Mary, and her family during our bedside vigil. Everyone from the parking valet to the doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners were extraordinary in service to us.

"Be the reason why someone feels included, welcomed and valued, listened to, supported and loved"

Calling for Mary begins at 1pm Saturday August 20, 2022 with a service to follow at 1:30pm at Leppert Mortuary Nora Chapel, Indianapolis IN. With burial to follow at Washington Park North Cemetery.
