Kathryn R. Lichtel, age 94, of 136 East Chestnut Street, Shamokin, died Monday, February 4th at Mt. View Manor.
She was born in Shamokin, PA, on June 5, 1913, daughter of the late Harry H. Reese and Iva B. Zimmerman.
Kathryn was a 1931 graduate of Shamokin High School.
She was married September 21, 1935 in Shamokin to L. Ward Lichtel, who survives. She was a housewife; a member of 1st United Methodist Church; Past President of Shamokin Hospital Auxiliary, serving about 20 years on various committees.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, W. Reese Lichtel and wife, Jeanmarie of Mechanicsburg, PA, L. Edwin Lichtel and wife, Susann of Elysburg, PA; 9 grandchildren, Kathy Cooney and husband, Joseph, Daniel Lichtel and wife Kym, John Lichtel and wife Terri, Matthew Lichtel and wife Sarah, Lisa Burke and husband Patrick, David Lichtel and wife Kelly, Jeffrey Lichtel and wife Nicole, Jason Lichtel and Megan Lichtel; 13 great grandchildren; a twin sister, Kathleen R. Magnelli of Shamokin; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Lichtel of Camp Hill, PA; and a niece, Betsy Reese Ross.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Lichtel; a sister, Letha Cramer; brother, Stuart Marlin Reese; and a nephew, Daniel Reese.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7th at 1st United Methodist Church, Shamokin, with Rev. Timothy Reichard officiating. Burial in Shamokin Cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
