Lorraine Baca Gallegos, age 94, passed peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2022. Lorraine was born on October 19, 1927 in Anton Chico, NM and raised in Las Vegas, NM. Lorraine graduated from Las Vegas High, attended Highlands University and began her career at Los Alamos National Laboratory with the Atomic Energy Commission.
Lorraine also worked for the Española Public Schools as a nursing assistant, culminating in a long career with New Mexico State Police District 7 in Española as a dispatcher/supervisor, then transferred to District 5 in Albuquerque until her retirement.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy A. Gallegos, mother, Abrana Aragón Baca, father, Hipolito Baca, sisters, Angie Ulibarrí and Helen Hedricks, brothers, Cristobal and Mike Baca, granddaughter, Jennifer Talley, great-granddaughter, Gabriella Pacheco, mother-in-law, Amanda (Molly) García, brother-in-law, Joseph Gallegos, sisters-in-law, Rosabella Lineberry and Rose Gallegos and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Anthony, Debra and Elizabeth Gallegos of Albuquerque, Mary Alice (Edward) Salazar of Pojoaque, grandchildren, Amanda (Shaun), Adriana (Tanner), Danielle, Kevin, Zachary, Stephan, Christina and Monica, several greatg-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Loretta Gonzáles of Santa Cruz and Pauline Herrera of Alcalde and a special niece, Doreen Hedricks of Northumberland, PA.
Rosary will be on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. until- 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Josephs Dr. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Mass will follow from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Interment will be on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St., Santa Fé, NM. Honorary Pallbearers will be New Mexico State Police Districts 5 and 7, NMSP Officer Robert Goke (retired), NMSP Officer Jake Salazar (retired), Angie Armijo-Valdéz, Corrine A. Martíinez, Claudette Benson, Christine Albrecht, Celina (Sally) Borrego and Christina Trujillo.
