Obituary Notice

John J. Trissel, the son of Daniel and Diannah Hepner Trissel, was born in Jackson township, Montgomery county, Ohio, February 14, 1826 and died at the home of his son, John Daniel Trissel, west of Lewisburg, January 10, 1926 from infirmities of old age, having reached the advanced age of 89 years, 10 months and 24 days.

On April 12, 1860, he was joined in holy wedlock to Miss Susan Hapner, the Rev. David Brumbaugh pastor of the Dunkard church at Bear Creek performing the ceremony.

This union was blessed with three children, Mrs. Sarah Catherine Rex, John Daniel, and Jacob Henry, the later having departed this life when he was 10 months old.

His wife preceded him in death June 25, 1907, after having shared each others joys and sorrows for over 47 years.

He volunteered as a private and became a member of Company I, 187th regiment of the Ohio Infantry on the 7th of February, 1865, and was honorably discharged January 20, 1866, and was later an enthusiastic member of the Grand Army of the Republic, and was buried with military honors.

Early in his married life, he with his wife united with Walkers Chapel U.B. church and when that church was abandoned they united with the Reformed church of Lewisburg, Ohio, under the pastorate of Rev. H.L. hart, and remained faithful members of the same until death transplanted them.

His early life was spent south of New Lebanon and most of his married life west of Lewisburg and is its own biography.

There remain to mourn his departure his son and daughter and a large number of relatives and friends.

The Family wishes to thank neighbors and friends for their kind assistance during their sad hour of bereavement, also Rev. Segrist for his comforting words, the choir, the American Legion and E.C. Kramer for their services.
