Mallie Marie Lewis

Funeral services for Mallie Lewis, age 90 of Monroe, will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 26, 2022, at New Ouachita Baptist Church, Enterprise, LA, with Bro. Norman Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at the Aimoch Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 503, Olla, LA under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia. The family will have visitation prior to the service at the church, on Monday, from 10 AM until 11 AM.

Mallie Marie Andrews Lewis was born September 2, 1932, in Nickel, Louisiana, to the union of her parents, Bro. S. L. "Buddy" Andrews and Rosa Roark Andrews, and she passed away in Monroe, Louisiana on September 23, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Ray Lewis; sisters: Christine Brewer and her husband, Verden, Ernestine Poole and her husband, N.H., and Carolyn Rose Andrews; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Boothe.

Mallie was a faithful and active member of New Ouachita Baptist Church for years until she relocated to Monroe in 2013. She worked with the postal service many years and loved her work. She served as Postmaster in Harrisonburg and Enterprise. Mallie loved music, both listening to it and singing. When she was young she was in a musical group known as the "Rosefield Melody Girls." She enjoyed traveling throughout her life. As she got older and slowed down, she enjoyed watching TV, especially some of the older shows popular in the 60's and 70's. She enjoyed taking walks, enjoying the beauty of nature in the flowers and trees she saw.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, sons: Jimmy Lewis and Tim Lewis (Chastity), daughters: Connie Boothe and Ronnie Jordan; grandchildren: Ethan Boothe, Elijah Boothe (Chandice), Kate Marie Stephens (Brent), Cassie Lewis, Caden Lewis, and Colton Lewis; great-grandchildren: Aubrey Rose Boothe and Wyatt Boothe; and her brothers: Ronald Andrews (Jo Ann) and Max Andrews (Rita).

Serving as pallbearers will be Stan Poole, Cary Lee McGuffee, Keith Green, Marc McGuffee, Caden Lewis, and Kevin Greene.
