William "Bill" F. Acklin, 66, walked into the arms of Jesus and was reunited with his son, William Paul Acklin on June 6, 2022.

Bill was born in Oil City on Jan. 31, 1956, to the late Sherwood D. and Anna Marie (Gregory) Acklin.

He graduated from Oil City High School and attended Mercyhurst College.

Bill, of Elkton, Maryland, worked many years for Jamesway Department Stores in Pennsylvania and ultimately, Maryland. He eventually worked for and retired from W.L. Gore and Associates, where he enjoyed and took pride in keeping his GoreTex customers happy.

Bill loved running the trails of Fair Hill Natural Resources Park. After his first time getting lost on the trails, he went on to spend many miles and hours jogging and exploring the trails. He lovingly called Fair Hill, his "Church". He was an avid Civil War buff and loved reading about and visiting Civil War battlefields. His favorites being General U.S. Grant and the Battle of the Wilderness. He also was an avid Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He loved to watch the games with his family but when he couldn't, he kept us connected through a group text. Bill's unique sense of human left many people with a smile on their face.

He was married on June 15, 1991, in the Elkton Presbyterian Church to the former Paula Fuchs and she survives. William was preceded in death by his only son, William Paul Acklin.

Surviving are three siblings, Barbara (Ray) Feroz of Seneca, and Michael Acklin, and Mary Sears of Oil City.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Christopher (Rie) Feroz of San Francisco, Matthew (Ericka) Feroz of Seneca, Elizabeth (Andrew) Marano of Pittsburgh, Kathleen (Matthew) Casamento of Pittsburgh, Jennifer (Brian) Smith of Franklin , Timothy McMahon of Franklin, Leanne (Mike Bush) Acklin of Erie, Carrie Acklin of Menomonie, Wisconsin, and Amy Acklin of Oil City.

Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by his sisters Joan Marie Acklin and Beth Wilson.
