Madalyn Sue Dean was born April 12, 1940, in Placerville, CA to Bert and Virginia Smith. She moved to Heaven September 20th, 2022, from her home in Muskogee, OK. Shortly after her birth, the family moved back to Missouri, and she spent most of her life around the Joplin area. Sue accepted Jesus as her Savior as a child and devoted herself completely to God and spreading the Gospel. In 1957, Sue married Ron Dean, Sr. and began a lifetime of ministry. They welcomed two sons, Ron, Jr. in 1959, and Dennis in 1960. During the next 50 years, they pastored Churches in California, Arizona, Nevada, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. In Joplin, they founded and pastored Calvary Temple and Community Chapel. Sue worked full time for over 20 years with Safeway and IGA. She then started a career in banking with Southwest Missouri Bank, retiring in 2006. Shortly after retirement, Sue and Ron moved to Muskogee to be closer to family. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Brady Smith and Virginia Fenix Smith; husband, Ron Dean, Sr.; son, Dennis Dean; brothers, Joe Smith, Richard Smith, Stephen Smith; sister-in-law's, Lucile Smith and Marie Smith. She is survived by her son, Ron Dean and wife Rainey of Muskogee, OK; brother, Mike Smith and wife Linda of Sebring, FL; sister-in-law's, Helen Smith of Cleveland, TN and Diane Smith of Grove, OK; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Derek Parker, Jennifer Thompson, Jennifer Parker, Jamie Parker, Christopher Dean, Zach French, Michaela French, Ahni Boyer-Dean and Michael Dean; 19 great-grandkids, many cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Sue lived her life with this philosophy, "If I can help somebody as I travel on, then my life shall not be in vain." A heart felt thank you to the staff at Seasons Hospice for the loving care over the last month. A celebration of Madalyn's life will be held 2:00PM Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK with Pastor Kelly Payne and Pastor Billie Gibson officiating. The family of Madalyn Sue Dean has entrusted her care, service and cremation to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson.
