Virginia K Bollinger was the daughter of CPT James Bollinger and Mary Elizabeth (Moulden) Bollinger, of Pennsylvania and Indiana, respectively. She had 4 older siblings, 3 sisters, Bertha, Katherine, and Elizabeth, and 1 brother, James M.

They lived in Indiana when she was young, but by the time he was 14, she and her family had moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was living in Saint Paul at least until her mid-20s. At some point she moved up to the Duluth/Hibbing area. That is when she met her soon to be husband, Arthur N Starin. Virginia was an interior designer, and he was an architect gaining a name for himself, from the east coast. They must have met working on a similar project, or through work related circles.

They married in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and some time after moved out to New Jersey where her husband was from. She practiced her interior design trade while living out there, with her name/business appearing a lot in the local newspaper in Bernardsville, New Jersey.

She died at the age of 64.

After Virginia died, her husband married her niece.
