Robert Wood Washington (1808-43)(unm.) born at "Red House Shoals" near Buffalo in Mason County [W]Va., died in Wheeling, [W]Va. Likely buried with his parents.

Robert Wood Washington's father was Lawrence Augustine Washington, fourth son of Colonel Samuel (1734-81) and Anne Steptoe Washington (1737-77), who was born at "Harewood," Charles Town, [W.]Va. He moved in 1817, to The Hills, near Wheeling, [W.]Va. He inherited about 1,000 acres from his uncle, George Washington. He married in 1797, Mary Dorcas Wood (1781-1835), daughter of Robert and Comfort Welch Wood, of Winchester, Va. Their four children were Robert Wood (1808-43); Emma Tell (1812-38); Dr. Lawrence Augustine, Jr. (1814-82)(Jefferson Med. c1836), of Denison, Tx., who married in 1839, Martha Dickinson Shrewsbury (1820-91); and Mary Dorcas Washington (1817-61)(unm.). Robert Wood's brother, Col. James Wood, was governor of Virginia.
