JULY 22, 1970 – AUGUST 15, 2022

San Diego, CA ---
Dan "Dano" of San Diego died unexpectedly at age 52 while completing a weekly hike through Penasquitos Canyon Preserve – his favorite destination. Dan was born in La Jolla California to Rita Alice (Aguilar) Aspeytia on July 22, 1970. Rita later met and married Arthur L. Sepin in August of 1977 where Dan was welcomed into the Sepin family along with his older brother Ralph. Dan attended Cardiff and Sunset Hills Elementary Schools, Black Mountain Middle School, and Mt. Carmel High School graduating in 1988, where he excelled in wrestling. Dan kept his focus on continuing his education and studied architecture, math, computer science and finance. He received his degree in finance from Cal State San Marcos in 2002. Dan loved running and working out. He ran The San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon and many 5K, 10K races. One of his favorites was in Aptos, Northern California. Additionally, he was an avid hiker truly enjoying the outdoors. He was generous with his time tutoring his nieces in math and assisting family with physical help - from landscaping to building block walls. Family was everything to him. Dan worked for many years at his parent's company, Synergy Systems, LLC at its Scripps Ranch location. There his quiet manner allowed him to put his education to work. Dan oversaw the finance/accounting functions. His intellectually curious nature led him to learn and become involved in electronic product test and global environmental requirements needed for the company's products. With his telescope, Dan was in awe of and explored the night skies above San Diego. He could speak with authority on subjects like the history of America, the Mexican revolution, Specific actions taken during the various world wars, astronomy, San Diego hiking trails, falconry, and many others. One of Dan's greatest pleasures in life was handling live raptors at a recent "Total Raptor Experience" event at Torrey Pines. Dan will be dearly missed by parents Art and Rita Sepin, brothers Ralph Aspeytia, Erik Sepin, sister-in-law Gina and nieces Meena and Maya Aspeytia and many extended family members. Our hearts are forever broken.

We love you Dan and we will never forget you!.

Services were conducted Wednesday September 7th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Rancho Peñasquitos followed by burial at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley. Dan left us while engaging in what was one of his most important interests – hiking. We will always remember his unassuming manner, quiet intellect, life achievements, commitment to family and assisting others.
