James Joseph Carroll, who died suddenly on the evening of January 21st was buried from Saint Frances' Church, Council Bluffs, Iowa on Monday morning January 25th.

Mr. Carroll had not been -in the best of health for the past 4 years but seemed as well as usual and had partially finished his evening work when he became suddenly ill. The Reverend Father Owens reached him in time to administer the last Sacraments. Doctor Joseph Steck was soon at his side but nothing could be done. He died peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.

Mr. Carroll was born at Coon Rapids, Carroll County Iowa, June 13, 1882, where he grew to manhood. Having spent most of his life near Coon Rapids and Bayard he moved to Council Bluffs eight years ago. At the time, of his death he was farming 5 miles from Council Bluffs, Iowa on the Traynor road, Star Route.

Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife, Anne E. Carroll; his sons, Robert Thomas, age 16, 3rd year high school St. Frances School, James Joseph 14 years, 2nd year high school St. Peters School and Paul Edward 5 years at home; and by his daughters, Mary Ann 12 years, Margarette and Madaline (twins) 10, Rose Eileen 7, all in grades at St. Peter's school and Kathleen Angela, aged 2 years. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Frances.

His sisters and brothers living are: sister Mary Bonaventure of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. T. J. Mahoney of Randolph, Nebraska; Margaret Carroll of Coon Rapids, Iowa; Laurence Carroll of Omaha, Nebraska; Patrick A. Carroll of Coon Rapids, Iowa; and Sister Mary Catherine of Des Moines, Iowa.

The Rev. James Danahey celebrated the Mass and preached the sermon. In the sanctuary were Rt. Rev. Monsignor F.P. McMansus, Reverend Ignatius Stein, Reverend J.F. Costello, and the Reverend J.P. Owens.

Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
