George starting working for the Western Union Telegraph Co. in 1911. He was named Wire chief for the local station in 1944. He retired in 1956 from the Western Union Telegraph Co.
He was a historian & once a president of the Toledo chapter of the Morse Telegraph Club. He also was a historian & editor for "The Brass Pounder", the club's monthly publication.
He was also instrumental in setting up the telegraphy exhibit at the Toledo Zoo Museum of Science.
