Christine "Chris" Herl, 56, of Quinter, Kansas, passed peacefully away on the morning of September 14th, 2022.

Chris was born in WaKeeney, Kansas, on April 12th, 1966, to Janice (Jan) and Nicholas (Nick) Arnhold. She graduated from Trego Community Highschool and Kansas State University where she received her bachelor's degree in Education.

Chris was united in marriage to Robert Herl on June 11, 1988; they were married for 34 wonderful years. Her passion in life was teaching and helping students. She taught for 34 years; 30 of those years were at Trego Community Schools in WaKeeney, Kansas.

Chris had a kind soul. She always went the extra mile to make sure everyone had the ability to succeed in life. Even as an experienced educator, she felt that there was always more to learn for herself. She had a fascination for exploring and she especially enjoyed the adventures of nature and science. Her hobbies included traveling, working on the interior design of her home, reading, painting, crafting, and discovering life with her family. She was an amazing mother and friend who often put other's needs before her own.

Those left to cherish Chris's memory are spouse Robert Herl of Quinter, KS; daughters Bethany Herl of Seattle, WA, and Abby Herl of Lubbock, TX; mother Jan Arnhold of Quinter, KS; sister Kathy Eberle (spouse Terry Eberle) of Cheyenne, WY; brothers Steve Arnhold of Longmount, CO and Mike Arnhold of Quinter, KS; father-in-law Moris Herl of Hays, KS; many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19th, 2022, at Christ the King Parish Hall in WaKeeney, Kansas with Father Charlie Steier as celebrant. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, September 18th , from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Parish Hall. A vigil service will start at 7:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation.

In lieu of flowers (if desired), memorial contributions are suggested to the Teacher Supply Fund of either Trego Community Schools (checks made out to USD 208) or Quinter Public schools (checks made out to USD 293). Johnson Cancer Research Center at Kansas State University is an additional option for memorial contribution if desired (checks made out to Johnson Cancer Research Center) Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 North 12th, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
