Mrs. Melba Joyce Boyd, age 86, of Shep and Happy Valley, passed away at her residence Friday evening, September 9, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Shep Cemetery in Shep, Texas with Lauren Garduño and Don Boyd officiating, under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.

Melba was born September 7, 1936, to Albany and Herbert Ballard.

She had two sisters, Velda Howard and Linda Ballard, who both preceded her in death.

She grew up in the rural community of Shep, Texas, and graduated from Blackwell High School.

She was a member of the Shep Church of Christ, and a homemaker.

She loved to cook and always made sure that everyone's favorite dish had been prepared for lunch after church on Sundays.

Melba married Charles Easton Boyd on March 19, 1956 in Merkel, Texas.

Charles preceded Melba in death after 66 years of marriage.

Melba is survived by her two sons, David Charles Boyd and Royce Herbert Boyd, 4 grandchildren, Charles Brandon Boyd and wife Michelle of San Antonio, Jennifer Solis and husband Angel of Shep, Mindy Mahon and husband Chad of San Angelo, and Christopher Boyd of Blackwell.

She also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren and many other loved ones who will miss her deeply.
