Civil War veteran. Company I, 7th Illinois Infantry
Died, Nov. 21, at 5 a.m. in Jacksonville, James H. Kent, of pleuro pneumonia, aged 42 years, 9 months and 22 days. The deceased was born in Springfield Jan. 29, 1845. He enlisted in Company I, Seventh Illinois Infantry for three years. He went with Sherman to the sea and was wounded in 1864, and discharged from the service on account of physical disability. He never recovered from the effects of the wound, but suffered the remainder of his life. Mr. Kent's father was an old settler of Sangamon county, having settled in Illiopolis in 1836. The funeral services will take place in this city at 2:30 o'clock today, from the residence of his brother, Josiah P. Kent, Fifteenth and Jackson streets.
