Carol Marie (Bowyer) Whybrew, 76, of Peru, IN went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:07pm on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.

She was born in Peru, IN on March 5, 1946 to the late Vinal and Marjorie Jeanette (Hessong) Bowyer. Carol received her bachelors degree and worked as a social worker at Maconaquah School Corporation until her retirement. She married William Joseph Whybrew 16 March 1968 in Peru, IN.

She enjoyed gardening and card making with her friends. Carol was a caring and compassionate person. This was evidenced through all of her volunteering in the Community of Peru. She has been involved with the domestic violence coalition, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Miami County Worth Remembering, The Salvation Army and has served as both regent and vice regent of the local chapter of DAR. Carol was very involved with many community activities during her lifetime. Some of her most notable are running the parent nurturing program, helping with the Homegrown Memorial and the more recent placement of "the little girl with her bike" statue in front of the Peru Public Library. Even with all of her volunteering she still made family a priority in her life. She always made time for each and every one of them with a focus on her grandchildren.

She was a member of Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren.

Carol is survived by her daughters; Krista (Brian) Robbins , Kara (Jamie) Oliver grandchildren; Christian Vernengo, Alyssa Vernengo, Adalynne Robbins, Miles Robbins, brother, Donald Bowyer, Marvene Riis, and Devita McClain.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Joseph Whybrew, and sister, Tania Mayer.

Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home, 136 South Elm Street, Bunker Hill, Indiana on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022 from 3pm to 7pm. Funeral services will be held at the Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, 4483 West 400 South, Peru, Indiana, on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 at 10am with Corky Cordes and Les Cooper officiating. Burial will take place at Metzger Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army in Carol's honor.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Allen Funeral Home.
