Mary E. (Strackbein) Bergman, 97, Colonial Manor, Correctionville, and formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Nov. 2, 1990, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christy Morningside Funeral Home. The Rev. Marvin E. Suhr, hospital chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Bergman, née Mary E. Hunwardsen, was born Dec. 13, 1892, at Oxford Junction, Iowa. She moved to Woodbury County near Battle Creek as a young adult, and married Carl Strackbein Aug. 7, 1912, at Danbury. He died Nov. 30, 1941. She married Phil Bergman Aug. 7, 1946, and he died in September 1965. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Survivors include two sons, Howard Strackbein of Belle Fouche, S. D., and Vern Strackbein of Guilford, Conn.; four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, John, August, Henry, Thomas, Howard, Otto and Edward, and two sisters, Meta Albers and Linda Petersen. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
