George Albert Dunlavy, age 90, of Jacksonville, FL passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 8, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years and three loving daughters after fighting multiple illnesses. He was our "Rock" and always wanted to be there for us, including his son, Michael, who preceded George in death. His daughters considered him the best "Girl Dad" in the world.

George was born on December 2, 1931 in Temple, TX at Scott and White Hospital to Henry and Imogene Dunlavy, whom also preceded him in death.

Chief Dunlavy proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He enlisted in 1948 and retired in 1969 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO) E-8. He went on to work as the warehouse manager for Potlatch/Malnove from 1973 to 1994. He became the only supervisor to retire with over 20 years of service to the company. He also worked for Seafood Kitchen until the plant closed in 2009. George also ran a fruit stand on the circle of Spring Park and Spring Glen Road where he enjoyed serving his customers and meeting new people.

George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Reata Dunlavy; daughters Alice Farris (son-in-law Larry, who also preceded George in death), Peggie Pugh, and Diann Masters; son, Patrick Fullhart; nine amazing grandchildren Stephen (Veronica), Mark (Cheri), Cher (Jason), Ryan (Erin), Melissa (Robert), Mike (Ashley), Michael Dwayne, Derick, and Michaela; nineteen awesome great grandchildren DeeDee (Marc), Leslie, Chrissy, Bubba, Bear, Mackenzie (Jack), Dylan, Evan, Jack, Charlie, Rylan, Drew, Owen, Britt, Kylee, Katelyn, Bristol, Kynleigh, and Caden; two precious great-great grandchildren Jenna and Jarren; brother-in-law, Charles Wall.

George is also preceded in death by his brother, Henry Dunlavy and sister, Mary Jane Wall. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews in Oklahoma and Arkansas; George drove to see them as much as possible and really enjoyed their visits because they all loved each other dearly.

Everyone who met George loved him and he was considered a "favorite patient" to many of his doctors and nurses. Our family would like to give a very special thanks to his entire medical team for the exceptional care that he received throughout the years. We thank God for letting us have him for so long. We love you and you will forever be in our hearts.

A visitation for George will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. A committal service will follow the funeral service Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
