Mrs. Ed McAfee received a sad shock Monday in a telegram announcing the sudden death of her brother, Mr. T. A. VanLear, at his home in Shreveport, La. Not long since Mrs. McAfee had returned from a visit in his home, leaving him apparently perfectly well, and the unexpectedness of the news has been a blow to her. She had not received the particulars of his death, but it is supposed apoplexy was the cause. He was a splendid high-minded gentleman, known to many of our people here, as the family formerly lived in this community. He is survived by his wife and one child, as well as the following brothers and sisters: Rev. John VanLear, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Little Rock, Ark.; Messrs. Matt and William VanLear, Miss Belle VanLear and Mrs. A. M. Leary, of Shreveport, and Mrs. W. H. Morton, of Spartansburg, La., and Mrs. McAfee, of this place.
