He was born March 15, 1942 in Greensburg, the son of Silas and Dorothea Haley Rigby. He was a former employee of Knauf Fiberglass in Shelbyville, Ind., where he worked until 1990 when his health forced him to retire. He also had worked for C.H. Oliger & Sons and Scheidler Brothers in Greensburg.
On August 12, 1961, he married Mary Oliphant in Greensburg, and she survives; with two sons, Austin "Willie" Rigby, Greensburg and Timothy J. Rigby, Osgood, Ind.; his daughter-in-law, Karen Rigby, Osgood; two daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Melanie) Neal, North Vernon, Ind. and Mrs. Jim (Paula) Davis, Greensburg; three brothers, Silas F. Rigby, Milroy, Ind., and Franklin and Carl R. Rigby, both of Greensburg; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Moore, Sandusky, Mrs. Darrell (Wanda) Ralston, Letts, and Mrs. Mervin (Marjorie) Carel and Mrs. John (Carolyn) Stringer, both of Greensburg; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, T. Kenneth Rigby and four sisters, Mary Carel, Edna Mae Rigby, Mary Louise Rigby and JoAnna Rigby.
The Rev. Robert Browning will conduct the services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery located in Adams, Ind.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
