George proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge he was stationed at Truax Field. George was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marlene Lindgren, on July 13, 1957 and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He worked in the body shop for Kayser Ford for 37 years, retiring in 1994.
George was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He volunteered for the Cottage Grove Fire Department since 1971. George was a charter member of the Cottage Grove Lions Club and a charter member of the Cottage Grove Snowmobile Club since 1971. He was also a member of the VFW Post No. 7591 and American Legion Post No. 248. George went on the Badger Honor Flight, one of the highlights of his life. He enjoyed traveling, entertaining, cooking and canning. George especially loved spending time with his family and friends playing Euchre, boating, fishing, snowmobiling and gambling-where he was lucky at the Casino.
George is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Craig (Debra) Ball and Jeffrey (Carolyn) Ball; daughter, Diana Hurd; grandchildren, Gavin (Amy) Ball, Tanya (Troy) Wiedenbeck, Kailee (Branden) Furseth, Jarod Ball, Connor (fiancée, McKenna Maniaci) Ball, Lucas Hurd and Briana Hurd; great-grandchildren, Rocky, Ryker and Ronan Ball, Landin and Lovelyn Wiedenbeck and Millie and Clara Furseth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Steven Hurd; and three brothers and two sisters.
