Atha J. (WOODS) IVES
Atha Jessie Woods was born in Henderson Co., IL, October 5, 1906. She was the daughter of Edwin Clarence and Esther Sarah Bricker Woods. She had two brothers Clarence and William and a sister Evelyn. She attended Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb, IL. She taught in one-room schools during the 1920's and 1930's. During the 1950 - 1960 she was a substitute teacher at the Keithsburg Elemetary School, Keithsburg, IL. She married Lloyd Clifford Ives in Monmouth, Warren Co., IL March 6, 1937. They resided on a farm near Keithsburg, IL. On February 23, 1941, a son was born to this union. Born to this union was one child; they were loved dearly by their many nieces and nephews. The couple had been married 53 years at the time of Lloyd's death in April, 1990. Atha was a 50 year member of OES Mary Burns Chapter 24. Affiliated with the First Christian Church of Keithsburg, IL. She enjoyed gardening;canning and visiting with family,friends and neighbors. She is survived by a Son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Alicia Ives; two granddaughters,Kimberly Ives Boyd and Jacqueline Kaye Ives; two step-grandchildren Shane Morrow and Gaye Morrow Schneider; seven great grandchildren. On June 27,1995, 10:05 PM, Atha died quietly in her sleep at the Aledo Healthcare Center where she had resided since 1985. She was 88 years of age. Her body was laid to rest at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth,IL on June 30, 1995.
