Edgar Newell Cassady was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a retired school teacher, living in Houston for the previous six years. Survivors include his wife, Clara Saunders Cassady; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Rossman, both of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Mae Shaw and Mrs. Addie Butcher, both of Fenton, Michigan and Mrs. Gertrude Dickerson of Detroit, Michigan; a brother, Harvey Cassady of Fenton, Michigan; sister-in-law, Miss Myra Saunders of Houston; son-in-law, Harold J. Rossman and two grandchildren.
