Clent Brown
December 11, 1930 - July 23, 2022

Clent Brown was born December 11, 1930 in Logansport, Louisiana. He departed this well-lived life for his eternal life at 91 years of age surrounded by his loving family and friends on July 23, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Dave Brown and Alvie Lafitte Brown. Brothers: Dalton Brown and Calvin Wayne Brown. Sister: Carol Jackson and survived by his sister Betty Rose Whitton.

Clent was proud to be a true American. He proudly served his country in the United Stated Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on December 4, 1948. He returned to La Marque, Tx where he met the love of his life Maureen Elizabeth Ryan Brown and made her his bride on August 30, 1949. They were a month shy of 73 years of marriage. They proudly raised six children.

He is survived by: Judy Brown Hartley (Harry) of Texas City, Tx, Joanie Brown LeBoeuf (Bernard) of Texas City, Tx, Clent Wayne Brown of Galveston, Tx, Janie Brown of Santa Fe, Tx, Connie Brown Moore (Billy) of Santa Fe, Tx, and Coleena Brown Jackson (Brad) of Texas City, Tx.

He was blessed with nine grandchildren. Maureen Hayman, Malissa Flanagan, Clent Thomas Wright, Laurie Hieronymus, Frank Hyatt, Tracy Beard, Becky Clemons, Shelby Jackson, and Drake Jackson. His blessings extended to fifteen Great Grandchildren and four Great-Great-Grandchildren.

He came from humble beginnings which instilled a strong work ethic. This drive made him a respected master of his craft as a pipefitter with the Local Union 211 for 55 years.

Clent Brown had a successful nine-year tenure on the Building and Standards Committee for the City of La Marque. He was elected to City Council representing District D in 2011 at the age of 80. He was well known for his integrity and worked tirelessly to serve the residents of La Marque. During this he championed many accomplishments: He led the charge to execute the retention of local businesses, was instrumental in the passage of the Westside Fire Station, assisted in identifying properties for demolition as part of the cities with various corporations and citizens. He created the Shine on La Marque program that has adapted into Keep La Marque Beautiful.

In efforts to beautify the city, he obtained corporate donations to fund the building of a fence around the La Marque City Cemetery. Thru the Economic Development Commission, he initiated having a mural painted on the La Marque pawn shop.

In addition, Clent oversaw the holiday decorating of the city including the building and maintenance of Santa's Sleigh for La Marque's annual Christmas parade. Clent sought donations to restore the antique fire truck to use during parades. He developed a historic poster paying homage of the City of La Marques's rich history. Clent proudly donated the American flag each year for Bayou Fest.

Clent was known for working hard and giving graciously of what he had. He was a dedicated member of his community. All during his tenure at the age of 80 Clent was still serving faithfully. He mentored Christopher Lane, Katherine Herrin Keith, and many others to go continue to champion strong leadership in the community. He was a pillar of the community and a shining example of hard work, civic duty, and a devout family man.

The family would like to extend deep gratitude to Dr. Turakhia, Dr. Nickeson, Dr. Cantu, Dr. Prince, and the 4th-floor staff of HCA Mainland for their dedication and compassion in the care of our daddy. Clent is also deeply grateful for the lifelong friendship of Earnest Gibson and looks forward to the day they meet again.

Clent Brown put his faith and hope in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Because of his profession, the family rejoices knowing he was greeted by family and friends as he was welcomed into his eternal home. We look forward to meeting him again some sweet day at heaven's gates.

Pallbearers will be his Grandsons: Timmy Clemons, Jared Beard, Justin Beard, Drake Jackson, Cody Hayman, and dear friend Christopher Lane.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his loving son Clent Wayne Brown and his Sons-in-Law who faithfully love and support his daughters, Harry Hartley, Bernard LeBoeuf, Billy Moore, and Brad Jackson.

Officiating the service is Reverend Bobby Hocking, a dear friend to Clent Brown and family.
