Sheryl Lynn Arbuckle Green passed away August 25, 2022, at the age of 65.
Sheryl was born February 1, 1957, in Taylor, Texas, to La Verne and Ray Arbuckle, Jr.
She was a Daddy's girl and when she was 8 years old her parents brought home her baby brother, Russell, whom she lovingly wanted returned to the hospital.
Sheryl had a love of the outdoors and all animals from an early age. Growing up in Elgin, she could be found spending time with her horse, Cactus, her dog, Butchie, writing stories and celebrating just about anything with her dear friends. After school on Fridays they would typically go to Lundgren's Café for the best french fries ever. Sheryl had a natural ear for music and began guitar lessons with her best friend, Dorinda. She enjoyed cheering for the Elgin Wildcats and graduated from Elgin High School, Class of 1975.
After high school, Sheryl attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and Southwestern University in Georgetown and became a Respiratory Therapist. While in college, she was active in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. During her career, her work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Seton Hospital was especially meaningful and rewarding. It is also where she met the love of her life, Terry Green. Terry and Sheryl were married overlooking the Fort Davis Mountains on September 15, 1983.
Sheryl was the owner of the Cowdog and Sassycat Pet Salon as well as the Twin Palms Airbnb, both in Taylor. She was the neighborhood mom and made many fond memories of watching her boys play baseball. Sheryl loved gardening and soap making. She was a very gifted writer and was an author for "Four Square" in which she chronicled the daily life of small-town living. Sheryl loved to make people laugh and adored spending time with her granddaughters who were the loves of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Arbuckle, Jr., her in-laws, James Edward Green, Jessie S. Green, and brother-in-law, Eric Wayne Green.
Sheryl leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Terry James Green and sons, Cayton Green and girlfriend, Heather Baron and Ryan Green and wife, Kelsey, her granddaughters, Kinley and Addilyn, her mother, Joy La Verne Arbuckle, brother, Russell Arbuckle and wife, Paula, and nephews, Ethan Arbuckle, Jackson Arbuckle and fiancé, Nicole Young.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Sheryl's memory on September 4, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the KC Hall - Taylor, 2201 E. 4th St., Taylor, TX 76574. We invite anyone who knew and loved her to attend.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation in Sheryl's memory to the TRAPRS (Trapping, Rescue and Pet Recovery Service).
There will be a book at Providence-Jones Funeral Home in Elgin during business hours from Wednesday, August 31 to Friday, September 2 for those unable to attend Sheryl's Celebration of Life.
