He was born on August 29, 1922, in Deer Creek, Ill., to John and Lena (Heiniger) Wegman. He married Rosemary Jacob in Morton, Ill., on August 22, 1948.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Wegman of Morton; and five sons, Larry (Cheryl) Wegman of Mackinaw, Ill., Steve (Ruth) Wegman of Champaign, Ill., Dave (Karen) Wegman of Normal, Ill., John (Sara) Wegman of Cayuga, Ind. and Scott (Dawn) Wegman of Taylor, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Rylan Smith; and two sisters, Louise Rowell and Wilma Stoller.
Sam was a United States Navy veteran. He was superintendent at Union High School in Biggsville, Ill., District 115. In 1984, he retired to the farm in Mediapolis, Iowa.
Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
