Obituary
James Earl Whitaker, age 80, was born on July 17, 1942, in Tallulah, Louisiana, and passed away in Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah on August 25, 2022, after a debilitating battle with bone cancer.

James Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry "C.H." Whitaker and Laverne Tenny Parker Whitaker; three sisters, Virgie Ann Whitaker, Pauline "Paula" Whitaker Ainsworth, and Dora Mae Whitaker Evans Koehler; one brother, Wesley Edward Whitaker; and a daughter, Jill Courtney Whitaker

James Earl is survived by one son, Jason Kyle Whitaker of Rayville, Louisiana; two sisters, Attie Kay Whitaker Brinson (David) of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Connie Whitaker Clay (Virgil) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; two brothers, Carlton Whitaker and Melvin Whitaker, both of Tallulah, Louisiana; and a stepdaughter, Stacy Whitaker McDaniel of Newellton, Louisiana.

James Earl was a retired welder/pipefitter and heavy machinery/bulldozer operator but was most well known for being an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman over his entire life. James Earl's love for the outdoors and expert talents in hunting and trapping got his family through many hard times by keeping food on the table and the freezer always full.

James Earl accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at Mound Baptist Church at a young age and attended church there and at First Baptist Church until his health began failing.

Services for James Earl Whitaker will be at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Visitation will begin one hour before the service at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the Whitaker family plots at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Walker, Andy Oakes, Minda Ainsworth, Cynthia Machen, David Brinson, and Eric Cockrell. Honorary pallbearers will be James Earl's nephews, Tony Walker, Brad Walker, Kendall Walker, Charles Whitaker, Brandon Whitaker, Wayne Whitaker, Craig Evans, Sidney Williams, Quinn Whitaker and Cody Walker; and lifelong friends, Ray Jobe and Merle Deckard.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Madison Parish Hospital for the excellent end of life care that James received there. Dr. Perry, all R.N.s, all CNAs, all LPNs, ER staff, Radiology staff, PT staff, Respiratory staff, housekeeping and dietary staff provided the most professional care to James Earl for the last 11 days of his life, and the family will always be grateful to every one of them,
