WAYNE M. GROSE - Tuesday - February 1, 2005

Chelan - Wayne M. Grose, 69, a 31-year resident of Chelan, died Saturday morning, January 29, 2005, when he lost a short battle with cancer.
He was born May 2, 1935, at Hazelton, Idaho, the son of Edward and Arlene (Fairbanks) Grose. He attended schools there and graduated from Valley High School in 1954. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army and the Reserves until 1963. Upon returning home to Idaho, he married Lois Buschhorn. Together they had two sons, Mike and Mark.
They were later divorced. He moved to Northern Idaho and Washington where he was employed in the construction of several hydroelectric projects including Grand Coulee Dam. He met and married Lexie Booth in 1967, and they had one daughter, Carmen. He was employed with Beebe Orchard Co. as a carpenter until his retirement in 1988. He loved horses and competed in amateur rodeos. He was a longtime active member of the Chelan Rustlers Saddle Club. He lived out his passion for rodeos by attending the Dodge National Rodeo Finals in Pocatello, Idaho, each spring, with family members. Being a farm boy at heart, he enjoyed returning to Hazelton each fall to drive beet and potato trucks during harvest for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Lexie of the home; a daughter, Carmen Grose of Olympia; two stepdaughters, Debbie Robison of Chehalis, Crystal Gates of Chelan; three sons, Mike of Port Angeles, Mark of Enumclaw, Dick of Coos Bay, OR; his mother, Arlene Grose of Twin Falls, ID; four sisters, Shirley Pretl of Castleford, ID, Colleen Henry of Jerome, ID, Betty McDonald of Buhl, ID, Kathy Deahl of Twin Falls, ID; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Wayne, also known as 'Doc', was much loved by all his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
A Tribute Service will take place Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at 1 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church with Rev. Gordon Hyde officiating. Interment will be at Fraternal Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Lakeside Best Western Inn. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Precht Rose Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Chelan Rustlers Saddle Club. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
