DANIEL BERTON GUSTAFSON

D.B.Gustafson Dies In Elgin Early Monday

Daniel Berton Gustafson, well known and highly respected resident of rural Sycamore, where he had spent most of his life, passed away Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock in Elgin at his daughter's home where he had been cared for during the last weeks of his prolonged illness. He had been in failing health for a year and his death comes as a blessing, relieving him of his suffering.

Mr. Gustafson was born on October 2, 1876 on a farm in Charter Grove and was the son of Daniel and Electa Johnson Gustafson. He received his education in the rural schools of that community and when about 17 years old, he went to Iowa and resided at the farm home of his sister, Mrs. Frank Wright for four years and then returned to Sycamore.

On April 2, 1898, he was united in marriage to Minnie Belle Campbell of rural Sycamore who passed away three years ago. The wedding took place in Beloit, Wisconsin. Their first few years of married life were spent in this city where Mr. Gustafson was employed by the late Thomas Tisdlle, carpenter contractor. He later was employed by the Chicago Insulated Wire Company. In 1903 they moved to the Phoebe Campbell farm, north of town. Mr. Gustafson continued farming on various farms in that locality until his health failed him. His present farm residence was the old Charles Marshall homestead.

To Mr. And Mrs. Gustafson were born five children, all of whom are living; Walter, residing south of Genoa, Frank of Sycamore, Mrs. Leonard (Mary) Lund of Elgin; Morris, on the family farm home in Charter Grove and Mrs. Louie (Lolo) Lindsay of this city.
