Obituary for James Paul Adams
James P (Jim) Adams, aged 73, passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2022. Jim was born January 15, 1949 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Charles Adams and Frances Hogan Adams. Upon completing his formal education, he began employment with the US Department of Veterans Affairs in Des Moines, IA in 1974. He continued to serve veterans with the VA in several other cities including Birmingham, AL, Canandaigua, NY, and Shreveport, LA. Jim retired from the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in 2006 with 31 years of service. After leaving the VA, he joined the staff of the State of Louisiana's newly opened Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home in 2007 and retired in January of 2018.

Jim married his loving wife, Dennise, in December of 1974 and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Nicole and Jacqueline. Both girls were heavily involved in dance throughout their school years and Jim and Dennise spent many weekends attending dance events all over the region. Jim enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and grandchildren, cruising, and spending time relaxing in RV resorts in their home away from home.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dennise Adams of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Nicole and husband Tom Rouleau of Fort Worth, TX, and daughter Jacqueline and husband Jerry Gonzalez of Richmond, TX. Grandchildren include Sam Rouleau, Ava Rouleau, and Gabriel Gonzalez. Surviving siblings are Mary Carlson of Manson, IA, John Adams of Baton Rouge, LA, Rita Darveaux of Austin, MN, and Paul Adams of Fort Dodge, IA. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Adams and his mother Frances Adams.

Jim served in the Air National Guard, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve. He retired in 2001 after 23 years with the rank of Major. He was a member of the LA Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Forty & Eight, and Military Officers Association of America.
