Death of Mrs. Shobe--Last night at 11:30 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. M. A, Shobe at the home of her son, Dr. M. C. Wilson in the village of Downs. Mrs. Shobe, whose home was in this city, went to Downs about a month ago to be with her son. Her recovery was doubtful and from that time she grew worse. Yesterday her daughter in this city, Miss A. E. Wilson of school No. 6, was called to her mother's bedside and arrived a few hours before death. Mrs. Shobe was a woman of noble character and was very well acquainted with McLean County people. She was born in Ohio, Nov. 13, 1821. Her maiden name was Kirkpatrick and she married Dr. W. B. Wilson who died in 1861. In 1874 she married Jacob Shobe, who died in 1882. She lived at Homer, Ill. until last fall when she moved to 203 East Mulberry street in this city and kept house with her daughter Miss A. E. Wilson, and granddaughter, Miss Anna Smith, attending the Normal school.
Besides Dr. Wilson of Downs and Miss Wilson of this city two other children survive her, Mrs. G. W. L. Smith of Homer and W. Brent Wilson, editor and proprietor of the Lafayette Journal. She was a member of Grace M. E. Church of this city and her funeral will be conducted by Rev. James Miller. The cause of her health was paralysis and grip.
