Kenneth Leon Baker, 78, of Sand Springs, OK, died in his sleep, August 13, 2022 after a long illness.

Kenneth was born in Tulsa, OK, April 10, 1944 to Arthur Guy and Hazel McCarty Baker. He was one of four children including sisters Martha and Linda and brother Paul.

After graduating from Tulsa Central High School in 1963, he married Melinda Ellen Beard on September 18, 1964. They would have been married 58 years in just a few weeks.

He began a career in Heat Exchanger Manufacturing, working in West Tulsa and Sand Spring for Waynard, Essex and for nearly 40 years at Cust-o-FAB. After retirement, he volunteered at Hillcrest Medical Center and then worked as a transporter for several years. He also volunteered at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. On three occasions, he traveled to Honduras with a group from the Hillcrest Burn Center to work at a Children's Hospital where his uniform was a clown costume.

Other jobs included selling beer and peanuts at Tulsa Ice Oiler Hockey games, ushering at NWA Monday Night Wrestling, where he became a member of the escort crew and walked the athletes to the ring. He also worked at the old Tulsa Speedway as a seating usher and at the Tulsa State Fair for numerous concerts and events.

He and Melinda are members of Osage Hills Christian Church. Kenneth served as a deacon for several years with his main duties being taking care of the Church vans. He also enjoyed attending visitation of members with fellow deacons and elders.

He was a devoted Oklahoma Sooner football fanatic. He attended games from 1974 to 2020, no matter how the team was performing or weather conditions. He attended all home games except one during that time span even traveling to road games in Dallas, California, Kansas and Stillwater when possible.

He was also an avid fan of professional wrestling and rarely missed a chance to take in the matches either live in Tulsa or on television.

In later years, he enjoyed traveling around the Country attending Taekwondo tournaments with his son and grandsons. He was known as Papa Baker on the Taekwondo tournament circuit.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur, mother Hazel, sister Linda and brother Paul.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda, his son Clint Baker and his wife Robin of Tulsa, OK, his son, Chris Baker of Sand Springs, OK and his daughter, Cindy Delcour and her husband, Wayne of Bristow, OK, grandsons, Adam Baker and wife Laura of Lowell, AR, Andrew Baker of Broken Arrow, OK, Billy Willmann and wife, Erin of Verdigris, OK and Hayden Baker of Sand Springs, OK and granddaughter Haley and Ashley Baker of Sand Springs, OK, and seven great grandchildren: Maddox, Carolina, Ezra, Rosalie, Jazzalyn, Reagan and Kennedy.
