Nettie Pauline (Simpson) Hunter-Swope was born April 27, 1913, to Nettie Evaline (Snodgrass) and Lorenzo "Lora" Ector Simpson in Belen, New Mexico. She passed away May 4, 2002, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Pauline's family moved to the Mountainair area in 1920, buying property Southeast of town at the foot of Deer Mountain. She attended Cedar Grove School and Mountainair High School.

On November 16, 1932, she married Forest "Clifton" Hunter of Mountainair. To this union was born two girls, Helen and Lois. Clif and Pauline were later divorced. On August 7, 1957, Pauline married Frank Swope. They celebrated 30 years of marriage before he passed away in September of 1987.

Pauline worked at the Mountainair Hospital as a cook, packaged beans for the Shockey Bean Co. and clerked in the grocery store for Henry Edwards, worked at the Sanderson Drug Store and her last job was for the Mountainair Public Schools as secretary to the high school principal and later is secretary to the superintendent. She held this job for almost twenty years before retiring in June 1974. She loved this job and could call almost every student by name.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen (Bob) Lassiter of Twin Kails, ID, and Lois (Mike) Runyon of Garden Grove, CA; four grandchildren: Neil (Darlene) Lassiter, Robin (Joe) Silvey of Twin Falls, ID; Shelli (Alex) Britan of Pearland, TX; and Jeff (Sheri) Lassiter of Boise, ID; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
