John Richard Dunn died peacefully at home at 85 years old in Weston Lakes, Texas on Thursday, November 18, 2021. He was born to Andrew and Sibbie Dunn at home in West Monroe, Louisiana. John graduated from West Monroe High School in 1955 and earned a degree in petroleum engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1960.

In high school, he was the athletic department publicity director, in the band choir, and elected to the Honor Society in 1955. He was also an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. While at Louisiana Tech, John was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, the Petroleum Club, and the Wings and Prop Flying Club. He joined the U.S. Army in 1961 and served eight years on active duty and reserve status.

Upon graduation, John joined Nalco Chemical Company and later Arco Chemical Company and was honored as a member of the Presidents Club in 1986. He was active in the merger of Chemlink Petroleum, a Arco subsidiary with a Baker Hughes subsidiary, and became Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing of Baker Performance Chemicals.

John enjoyed his working career with contacts in the oil, gas, and pipeline industry for thirty-six years with worldwide responsibilities. He was a member of Weston Lakes Country Club and loved playing golf, hunting, fishing, and boating with his many friends and family. At Weston lakes, he was founder of the Senior Men's Golf Outings Tour. John was a faithful member of the Fulshear United Methodist Church and delivered "Meals on Wheels" for over 20 years with his wife, Helen, and served on numerous church committees.

John is survived by his wonderful and loving wife of forty-four years, Helen. He is also survived by two sons, William Carlton (Elizabeth) of Cape Coral, Florida and John Robert of Grapevine, Texas, and by three grandsons, William, James, and Patrick. John was very proud of all of his sons and grandsons.

In addition to John's mother and father, his brother, William Hershel (Pat) are deceased.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at First United Methodist Church Fulshear, 8201 Harris Street, Fulshear, Texas.
