George P. Ashmore has a CSA pension app on line in the GA archives virtual vault. He says he enlisted in Atlanta in July 1864 and served with Company G of the 1st Georgia Militia until the unit surrendered in August 1865. There is a pension application from Mrs. Bettie Quarles Ashmore, his second wife, in the vault also. She gives his date of death as Feb 23, 1926 and gives proof of marriage to him on July 16, 1896 in Lincoln Co., Ga.
