Pre-deceased by his loving wives Dorothy (1986) and Peggy (2006); sisters Frances Leith (2010) and Margaret Fairey (1974); brothers Victor (2000) and Richard (1998). Fred was a popular resident of Kitsilano and Richmond BC. He enjoyed a lifetime career in industrial equipment sales for Fleck Bros. Ltd., Vancouver. He was an officer with the Irish Fusiliers of Canada from 1940-1945. Fred performed with the Point Grey Operetta Society, was active in the Burrard Lions Club, and a long-time curler and member of the Arbutus Club and Richmond Curling Club. He was Kitsilano Citizen of the Year 1974; a life-long Anglican at St. Mark's, Kitsilano; and later St. Edward's and St. Alban's, Richmond, receiving the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster. Fred will be remembered for his support of family and friends and those in need, his love of dogs, his faithful recounting of a good joke, and his passion for cars, driving until age 98. His long life is celebrated with thanksgiving, and he will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. Alban's Anglican Church, 7260 St. Albans Road, Richmond on Saturday, July 15 at 2 pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Alban's Church Richmond, or to a charity of your choice will be gratefully received.
