OBITUARY:

Alfred Earl Wright, age 92, of Brodnax, VA, died peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family on August 15, 2022.Earl is survived by his four children, Leonard Earl (Debbie) Wright of Brodnax, VA; Michael (Janet) Wright of Mechanicsville, VA; Paula (Maria Guerrero) Wright of Brodnax, VA; and Scott (Janette) Wright of Brodnax, VA; his seven grandchildren; and his eight great-grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Myrta Wright, and his son, Alfred "Butch" (Kathryn Johnson, surviving) Wright. Earl was a loving husband to Myrta, his wife of 68 years. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and loved to share hugs, smiles, and stories with them. As such, he was an avid storyteller and loved to both write and talk about his adventures hunting and fishing. He had a passion for his dogs, which he raised and spoke of fondly. He had many special friends both near and far, and always welcomed visitors or phone calls to chat. He always gave back to his community and was willing to help with anything needed, big or small. He shared what he had, whether it was knowledge, vegetables from his garden, or the catch of the day. He was a Deacon at Sanford Memorial Baptist Church, and worked at La Crosse Sportswear among other jobs that he held in his lifetime. Friends and family will be received during visitation on Saturday, August 20, at 10:00 AM, at Sanford Memorial Baptist Church, Brodnax, VA. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 AM, at Sanford Memorial Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Canaan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Catch a Dream Foundation, as Earl would say, "Always remember to take a child hunting or fishing."
